Who is responsible?
No Fear Tech Ltd, company 16758357, is the controller of personal information used to operate SellitLocal. Write to 6 Mallard Way, Dereham, Norfolk, NR19 1FJ, United Kingdom, or email hello@sellitlocal.co.uk about privacy.
What we use and why
- Accounts: your sign-in provider’s identifier, verified email and display name let us create your account, authenticate you and manage access. We use this information to provide the service you request.
- Listings and wanted requests: descriptions, photographs, prices, category, locality and coordinates support publishing, Norfolk geofencing and local matching. Seller floor prices support Virtual Haggle. We process these to provide the requested marketplace features.
- AI: when you request an AI draft or negotiate, relevant item images, text, prices and conversation content are processed by our AI supplier. You review a draft before publishing. Condition grades and price suggestions can be wrong. Please keep faces, identity documents and unrelated personal information out of item photos and prompts.
- Business accounts: company details, memberships, verification records and any documents you choose to supply support business account management and checks. Public company profile information comes from Companies House. Registration checks do not establish that an applicant owns or controls a business.
- Security and support: technical request information, access roles, abuse controls, audit records and support correspondence help us protect accounts and investigate problems. Our legitimate interests are operating a reliable marketplace, preventing misuse and resolving complaints. We may also retain records where a legal obligation applies.
Information necessary for an account or requested feature must be supplied to use that feature. You can browse public pages without signing in. Phone listing and online payments are disabled at launch; no voice interview or payment is initiated through those features.
What other people can see
Published listings, item photos, asking prices, locality and condition information are public and may appear in search engines. The directory does not expose your saved exact coordinates or hidden floor price. Details you put into a public description or photo are public too, so do not include your home address or private contact details there. Account and evidence access is limited by role and ownership.
Suppliers and international processing
We use netcup for hosting, Google for sign-in, OpenAI for AI processing and Purelymail for support email. Twilio supports phone verification when you request it. When you choose Find location, we send the postcode or place name you enter to Postcodes.io to find its area. We save the selected area and coordinates with your listing or request, rather than a separate copy of the lookup search. These suppliers receive information needed for their functions. We may disclose relevant records to professional advisers or authorities when necessary to resolve a dispute or meet a legal obligation.
Some suppliers process information outside the United Kingdom, including in the United States. Applicable supplier data-processing terms describe their international transfer arrangements, including contractual safeguards and, where applicable, recognised adequacy arrangements. Contact us for information about the safeguards that apply to your data. See OpenAI’s data-processing terms and Twilio’s data-protection terms. We do not promise that all processing stays in the UK.
How long information stays
We retain account and listing records while needed to provide your account, manage published items and resolve related issues. For support, verification, security and negotiation records, we consider the purpose, whether the record is still needed, unresolved complaints, fraud prevention and applicable legal requirements. Expiry of a draft or negotiation ends its availability; it does not automatically delete its database record. Removal and privacy requests are handled by our team. Backup copies, where maintained, are restricted and removed through the backup retention cycle rather than edited individually.
Cookies
SellitLocal uses essential sign-in, session and security cookies. The signed-in session lasts up to eight hours. We do not currently install advertising or audience-analytics cookies. Sign-in providers operate their own pages and cookies under their own notices. Blocking essential cookies can prevent sign-in; your browser lets you remove stored cookies.
Your choices and rights
You can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or a portable copy of eligible information. These rights depend on the circumstances. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful use. Email our privacy contact to make a request or ask for human review of an AI-generated result or moderation concern.
You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. You do not need to contact us first, although we would welcome the chance to help. Changes to this notice will appear here with an updated date.
